About the Facilitator

Temores Barratt is a Central Saint Martins alumna and multi-disciplinary artist pushing the boundaries of art, design, music and film, constantly challenging notions of creativity and educating on how art can be utilised to enrich our lives. As co-founder of critically acclaimed fashion brand 'Art School', she spearheaded a groundbreaking new movement in Non-Binary design by creating extravagant catwalk shows for London Fashion Week, which uplifted the queer experience to be understood by the modern world.

She was asked to design a Barbie for the September 2019 edition of British Vogue (guest-edited by Megan Markle), where she created the "non-binary" Barbie. She won the Fashion Fighter award at the 2019 Gay Times Honour for  her ongoing work uplifting trans- and queer people's voices through fashion.

Alongside her design passions, she is a musician and filmmaker working on communicating the struggles of surviving in the modern world, the transgender experience, and exploring emotion and human politics. As the visionary founder of House of Voya, art-collective and fashion house, she continues to focus on uplifting marginalised voices and re-defining the intersection of art and fashion.

Whatever Next: Around the World in 192 Days

Do you constantly think about the future? Join us for a discussion about a topic no one knows anything about! Nobody is an expert in the future, but we’re going there anyway.

Each week we’ll explore a topic, such as gardening, and imagine how it will take place in the future. We aren’t particularly interested in future forecasting but rather in expanding our capacity to imagine the world otherwise. We will discuss our findings in great detail and after each session, the creative team will conceptualise our imaginings.

Each week we will welcome a guest speaker, a world builder, with a different set of creative digital skills who will support us on our journey.

Get a fresh perspective on:

  • Learning in public: we’ll be figuring things out together in real-time!

  • We are Citizens first: you don’t need to come to this session with particular knowledge of skills so it doesn’t matter if you work in tech or not

  • Imagining bleak is easy - we’re going to stay optimistic in these sessions and see possibilities where others may not

  • This is all fun! We are using our imagination and playing with the ideas we come up with together

This week we’ll focus on…

Around the World in 192 Days: Observing a single route to understand the dynamic nature of time passing.

Who’s this for?

  • Anyone who wants to imagine the world in new and interesting ways…and to have fun with it!

  • Anyone aged 18 and above

What you need to bring

Yourself and your imagination.

Cost

Tickets cost £3. After the event, you can choose to be refunded or donate your ticket to MadLab CIC to support future community-led events. Refunds will be processed within seven working days. What you’ll learn

  • Installing Node.js & configuring your development environment

  • Overview of built-in modules

  • Write a simple server using the HTTP module

  • Handling HTTP requests and sending responses

  • Understanding request and response objects

Want to learn Express.js as well? Check out our Intro to Express.js workshop here.

What you’ll learn:

  • What solitary bees are and why they are important

  • How to use Fusion 360 to model and personalise your design

  • How to use Fusion 360 to render your designs in a realistic setting
