Join us for an evening of coding katas & pizza. Hone your programming skills by solving coding challenges, then work in pairs to perfect your code!
What you’ll learn
Learn what coding katas are and how you can use them to build your programming skills
Build collaboration skills by learning how to identify and debug coding errors with a partner
Develop refactoring skills to make your code clean and super efficient
Who’s this for?
All Stockport residents aged 18 and above are welcome!
Fundamental JavaScript knowledge is required to participate
What you need to bring
You’ll require access to a laptop that can connect to the internet. The workshop cannot be completed on a mobile or tablet
If you need to borrow a laptop for the session, please let us know in the sign-up form so we can arrange one for you
Cost
The course costs £3. After the event, you can choose to be refunded or donate your ticket to MadLab CIC to support future community-led events. Refunds will be processed within seven working days. If you cannot afford a ticket, we may be able to provide a bursary. Please email makestuff@madlab.org.uk with your name and postcode, and we will be in touch.

This event will include refreshments and a hot meal
All participants will gain access to an online learning community and free ongoing support network, including CV and job application support, mentoring, and work experience opportunities
All participants will receive a digital certificate of completion
Financial support is available for transport and childcare costs if needed (please mention if you need this when registering)
You will need to commit to attending all sessions - this is because places are limited, and we are often over-subscribed.

About the facilitator
Martin Rue learned to code when he was pretty young, which led to a love of creating things. I He likes little details, finding deeper understanding, and MateMate.
He loves language learning so much that he quit his job to build Yakk, an app to help people learn languages. He speaks Esperanto, and is slowly learning 🇪🇸 🇩🇪 🇮🇱.
