Community Hackathon

The Make Stuff Community Hackathon is for people who want to make a difference. Join other change-makers and use your combined creativity and problem-solving skills to prototype solutions for local community issues.

You do not need to have a team to register: we can help you find people to work with on the day.

The event will take place over two days:

Wednesday 28th Feb
10:00 - 14:00 GMT
Thursday 29th Feb
10:00 - 14:00 GMT

Please note: you are signing up for both sessions.

What you’ll learn

  • Make a Real Impact: This is your chance to help your community. Your ideas and solutions can bring about real change and improve the lives of people around you

  • Build Meaningful Connections: Network with like-minded individuals, community leaders, and potential mentors who share your passion for creating a better world

  • Hone Your Skills: Whether you’ve got loads of hackathon experience or you’re a first-time participant, you'll have the opportunity to sharpen your skills and learn from others

Who’s this for?

  • All Stockport residents aged 18 and above are welcome!

  • Anyone! You don’t need to be able to code to participate: whether you're a budding designer, someone passionate about social issues, or a seasoned coder, we welcome you to be a part of this experience

What you need to bring

  • You’ll require access to a laptop that can connect to the internet. The workshops cannot be completed on a mobile or tablet

  • If you need to borrow a laptop for the hackathon, please let us know in the sign-up form so we can arrange one for you

Cost
The course costs £5. After the event, you can choose to be refunded or donate your ticket to MadLab CIC to support future community-led events. Refunds will be processed within seven working days. If you cannot afford a ticket, we may be able to provide a bursary. Please email makestuff@madlab.org.uk with your name and postcode, and we will be in touch.
