Volunteer at Make Stuff

‘MadLab helped me figure out how to offer my skills so I could help others’

We’re on the hunt for amazing volunteers who can help lend their skills to Make Stuff. In return, you will have an experience that’s engaging, rewarding and fun!

We currently work with a plethora of interesting individuals from all walks of life. You don’t need any specific qualifications or experience to join: whatever your life experience, we will value your contribution.

Our valued volunteers are motivated to get involved for a variety of reasons, like: gaining work experience, expanding their professional networks, acquiring transferable skills, and supporting their community.

‘Through my volunteering work with MadLab my personal confidence has grown, as well as my contact network’

How to get involved

Supporting workshops

You’re a creative person looking to get hands-on with family and/or adult workshops. You’ll be supporting workshop leads to help deliver engaging experiences to Stockport audiences. Or, you might fancy helping out front-of-house, welcoming people to workshops and making sure everyone has a brew.

Running workshops

Got a digital skill that you can share with others? We’re keen on hearing from Stockport (and Greater Manchester) residents who have experience of leading workshops or training. We’ve also got some paid workshop opportunities. Find out more here

Got a flair for photography? A talent for timetabling? Seriously into surveys? We would love a hand preparing for and documenting events.

Mentoring

We’re keen to hear from businesses and individuals working in the tech industry who can provide mentorship to young people looking at joining the tech industry - from software engineering to the arts. Mentoring makes a huge difference to both learners and mentors. We’ll provide all the training you need.

When?

Weekdays and/ or weekends to suit you. Sign up for a one-off, or commit to a run. The choice is yours.

Support

We know that, especially with a cost of living crisis, things can be tight. So we will cover costs for volunteers in terms of transport (if needed). If there are any other barriers to your taking part, please let us know and we can see what we can do to help.
